Amusement Park: Line Eyes

There is a universal set of Amusement Park Laws that I think you'll find are undeniable.

When visiting an amusement park of any kind there are several laws at play. One of the laws: Line Eyes.

The werewolf's eyes in a butcher shop.
My eyes at the doughnut stand or The Express leather pants sale rack.
Crazy Eyes.

There is something that happens in the eyes of people waiting in line at an amusement park.

I've found that while waiting in line for more than two minutes this law can be witnessed. There is something that happens when there is a gap in the line. If there is an unfilled space of more the one foot the law goes into affect. Typically you'll have a couple, ages 14-24, that are starring longingly at one another - whispering sweet nothings, holding hands, line slow dancing if you will. They will get lost and not move up in the line. They'll leave a gap between themselves and those in front of them. They'll not do the thing that line waiters do.

And this is when you'll see it.
Find the gap.
Find the couple.
Find the next 15-45 people in line behind them... and you'll see the Law of Line Eyes at work.

As the gap grows the pupils gyrate. The whites widen. Willing the gap away with just a look. Their biting their lips. Their whispering to one another. Their wishing for the few feet just in front that will be theirs. But Alas... the gap grows and the madness continues sweaty and hot.

Then a breakthrough! The discovery of unknown handrails! The satisfaction of progress as the offenders are mystically called back to the now and move up. At last!

It isn't the ride alone that is so satisfying... it is the waiting, then the rush that can be the intoxicate.

Just remember to wait right.
